These stories revolve around a young Del Jordan and showcase how she grew up on the outskirts, and later in the centre, of the small, southern Ontario town of Jubilee. Incorporating feminist ideals, these stories contrast Del's life and characteristics with her mother and how she refuses to see the similarities. Using only few male characters in the backdrop, Alice Munro spins connected tales which mesh to form the story of Del's life. This book is a must have for fans of contemporary fiction and Alice Munro's work.
