Strong Medicine is the story of Celia Jordan, a modern-day heroine like no other, and her relationship with the people who work alongside her as well as against her--the cultured and wise Sam Hawthorne, the chief executive who never loses faith in her, but tragically loses faith in virtually everything else; the brilliant young British researcher, Martin Peat-Smith, who races against time to give Celia the breakthrough her company desperately needs; her bitter rival, the disillusioned scientist Vincent Lord; the unscrupulous senator Dennis Donohue, who is bent on destroying her; and the gentle and steadfast doctor, Andrew Jordan. A compelling insight into the pharmaceutical industry, Strong Medicine weighs human ambition in big business against morality and integrity. 'Strong Medicine is Arthur Hailey writing at the peak of his powers.' About the Author Arthur Hailey was born in 1920 at Luton, where he attended school, then worked as an office boy and clerk.
