Thirukkural: Pearls Of Inspiration is a translation of the original book titled, Thirukkural, written by sage Thiruvalluvar more than 2,000 years ago. Thirukkural contains over a thousand couplets, which address qualities that contribute to a human being's perfection. These qualities are sacrifice, charity, virtue, and self control. The modern version has retained the essence of the original text and has included many philosophical insights which are relevant for humanity today.
Rajaram's interpretation will guide readers through a mystical journey of the past by revealing the meaning of each couplet, yet making it applicable in the modern era. The modern interpretation of this Tamil classic embodies a whole range of human values, which contributes towards cultural, individual, and social harmony. The aphorisms in this book were applicable to people in all levels of society, whether they be kings, ascetics, or administrators. The author's love of both the Tamil language and literature has enabled him to successfully translate this endearing classic. Written in a lucid and simple style, the author has maintained the original text's poetic rhythm.
Numerous translations of Thirukkural have been put forth. However, Rajaram's translation has received much praise from Dr. Abdul Kalam, the former Indian President.
Thirukkural: Pearls Of Inspiration was published in 2009.
