A Tear and a Smile is a timeless work of wisdom, exploring the duality of human experience—joy and sorrow, tears and smiles. It suggests that embracing both aspects brings a deeper, more meaningful life. Through vivid imagery of flowers and clouds, the poem reflects life’s cycles, each phase infused with both happiness and sadness. Rooted in the Romantic era, the poem emphasises emotion, nature, and the soul. Its lyrical style and rich metaphors evoke a sense of longing and melancholy, capturing the essence of the period. This piece is ideal for those seeking to indulge in the beauty of poetry and immerse themselves in its profound reflections.

Kahlil Gibran

Kahlil Gibran, a renowned Lebanese-American writer, poet, visual artist, and philosopher, is celebrated as the author of The Prophet, published in 1923 in the United States. This iconic book has become a global classic, translated into over 100 languages and ranking among the best-selling books of all time. Gibran emigrated to the United States with his mother and siblings, settling in Boston’s vibrant Syrian and Lebanese community. There, he learned English and pursued art studies while his mother supported the family by working as a seamstress and selling linens. Gibran passed away in New York City on April 10, 1931, due to cirrhosis of the liver.
